air force pilot height requirements

You with your look around the Air Force OMCI Nierman anelorosadio the Air Force has removed pilot height requirements. Previously, pilot applicants wanting to pursue a career in aviation had to meet a height requirement between 5ft four inches and 6ft five inches and have a sitting height of 34 to 40 inches. The change opens the door to a larger, more diverse pool of candidates. Previous applicants needed height waivers if they didn’t meet the standard, and most were approved under the old system, but the process still acted as a barrier to interested applicants. Medical and operations teams will use new screening processes that will allow pilot candidates to be placed in aircraft they can safely fly.

Physical fitness testing for airmen is suspended until October 1, 2020, due to Covid-19 concerns. Lieutenant General Brian Kelly, the deputy chief of staff for manpower, personnel and services, says airmen will remain a top priority and that their health and safety are important. Local commanders will have the authority to postpone testing if fitness centers remain closed and local movement restrictions are still in effect beyond October. Once assessments resume, members will test on every component except for the abdominal circumference portion. Airmen will be exempt from the waist measurement until October 1, 2021.

Airmen can visit the Air Force’s personnel center website to find out more information and to view a detailed chart with instructions on when they can expect to take their next test.
