In this Vita Mix blender review we’ll take an inside look the Vitamix 5200 blender, the latest phenomenon developed by the mad scientists over at the Cleveland, OH based appliance maker. While we’ve enjoyed using many of Vitamix’s incredible blenders over the years, we believe that the 5200 just might be their best offering to date.
Vita Mix Blender Review – The Vitamix 5200
The Vitamix 5200 is an absolute beast of a machine, and this appliance is in an entirely different league when compared with your normal, everyday “blender”. While it’s true that Vita Mix blenders aren’t exactly cheap, this is certainly a case where you get what you pay for in spades.
Touted as a blender that was designed to outperform and outlast every other machine on the market today, the Vita Mix 5200 has delivered on that promise in our opinion.
Powering this Vita Mix blender is a 2 horsepower motor that is not shy when it comes to blending and processing whole foods. Our Vita Mix 5200 has handled everything we’ve thrown at it with ease, and it produces very smooth, consistent smoothies if you’re into that sort of thing.
Despite the fact that the Vitamix 5200 features a behemoth of a motor under the hood and is quite loud while in operation, the unit runs cooly and is actually quite energy efficient.
The Vitamix 5200 excels in blending whole foods, thanks in large part to the unique stainless steel hammermill and cutting “wet” blades. Also, the well-thought out blade design allows the blender to process whole foods better than any other appliance we’ve ever tested.
Vitamix 5200 Controls
The Vita Mix 5200 features a very user friendly control panel, consisting of an on/off switch, a variable/high switch, and a variable speed knob. Boasting a wide range of speeds from 11 mph to 240 mph, this blender provides more than ample blending power for any and every kitchen task imaginable.
Vita Mix Container
The Vitamix 5200 includes a 64 ounce Eastman Tritan copolyester container which provides all the durability of polycarbonate, with the addition of improved sound damping and chemical resistance. The ergonomic soft-grip handle on the Vitamix 5200 container is extremely comfortable to hold and makes handling it a joy.
We’re also big fans of the spill-proof vented lid on the Vita Mix pitcher. Thanks to a removable lid plug, safely measuring and adding ingredients while the blender is running is easily accomplished. Last but not least, cleaning the Vitamix 5200 couldn’t be simpler — just add a few drops of dish soap and some warm water, then run the blender on high for 30 seconds.
Vita Mix 5200 Review – Final Thoughts
To be honest, we’ve fallen head over heels in love with the Vitamix 5200 blender. It’s not a cheap purchase by any stretch of the imagination, but when you consider the quality of the components and construction and combine that with the fact that it’s made in the U.S.A. and backed by a full 7-year warranty, it’s a value that’s tough to beat.
There are a few minor things that we would change if we had our way, however. First of all, a lower profile that allowed the blender to sit under cabinents
Is the Vita Mix 5200 perfect? Not quite. To be honest, if we had our way the one thing that we incorporate into the design is a slightly shorter pitcher height which would allow it to fit under kitchen cabinetry a little better — but that’s splitting hairs at this point.
Is the Vitamix 5200 worth it? Absolutely.
