Dangers of Botox Result in Bad Side Effect Problems

If you’re used to relying on anti wrinkle creams for younger looking skin then potential Botox risks factors might be just enough to make you shy away from this popular shot.

I know I’m not wild about the idea of injecting a toxin into my skin. But so many women are raving about it, that I had to find out if the Botox before and after results were worth the risk of a bad Botox result.

The truth is, Botox is actually a kind of toxin. It’s a diluted form of the Botulinum toxin, which you might know as the food poison botulism. Made by the pharmaceutical company Allergan, it’s injected into muscles to prevent them from contracting and creating wrinkles and lines. It’s most often used around the eyes, in the lip area, and in the forehead.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved it for cosmetic use in 2002. The shot has been successfully and safely used since then to treat lines, creases, and wrinkles.

What are the dangers of Botox?

Whether it’s a root canal or a heart catheterization, medical procedures carry risk-and Botox is no different.

Patients risk a host of potential side effects. The milder ones include pain, swelling, or bruising at the spot where the doctor injected anti aging treatment.

When it comes to a Botox risk, there are rare but serious side effects, like difficulty speaking or swallowing. As bad as those risks are, there is also a danger that the medication could spread to other areas of the body. The result? Botulism, a potentially life-threatening disease that may trigger slurred speech, muscle weakness, double vision, loss of bladder control, and breathing difficulties.

Dropping Eyelid after Botox Injection

What does a Botox result gone wrong look like?

Negative Botox effects aren’t common, but they do happen. One of the most frequently reported complaints in my review of Botox patients’ online comments was a drooping eyelid. This sometimes happens when the prescription seeps into the area around the eyes, weakening the eyelid. Patients report the treatment leaves them appearing as though they’ve had a stroke or are an extra in a horror movie. The results, although disturbing, are temporary, wearing off within a few weeks.

How soon or for how long will Botox problems surface?

Some of the more mild side effects, such as bruising and swelling, may appear within hours of treatment. According to the manufacturers, serious side effects can surface hours or even weeks after the injections.

Should I avoid treatment because of the Botox risks?

It’s true that the danger of Botox is very real and, for a few patients, can be devastating. But take a moment to consider other cosmetic options. Surgery is quite effective at tightening facial skin; however it has the potential to trigger a laundry list of side effects, from infection to death. What’s worse, surgery is permanent, so if the doctor makes an error you’re forced to live with it or undergo another procedure to correct it.

Chemical peels are another anti aging treatment, but these can burn the skin and leave it irritated and red. In addition, peels are often too harsh for people with sensitive skin.

Educating yourself about Botox risks is a good first step toward deciding if it’s right for you. Visit your health professional, talk about the potential for bad Botox results or Botox problems, and view Botox before and after photos. Having all the Botox information allows you to make a smart skin decision.
