The History of Pilates
Fitness innovator Joseph H. Pilates (1881-1967) developed this exercise system in the 1920s.
He adapted some ancient fitness exercises with some of his experience from Zen meditation, martial arts and boxing.
In the 1940’s a lot of Pilates studios opened up around New York and some famous celebrities such as Martha Graham became his clients.
