Makita 5007MG Review

A powerful industrial-strength, Makita-built, 15 AMP motor and durable magnesium components in addition to a light weight and ease of use easily makes the Makita 5007MG Magnesium one of the best circular saws available today. It is powerful, balanced, easy to use and accurate, handling most cutting jobs with ease.

The Makita 5007MG is also exceptionally versatile.  It can handle an impressively large range of cutting tasks easily, and accurately.  Rather than own a different saw for every use, Makita has given us this little powerhouse which can handle any cutting tasks you can throw at it.  Combine that with high quality magnesium components and Makita’s infamous quality craftsmanship, and you can see why the Makita 5007MG Magnesium is one of the best circular saws available.

The Makita 5007MG Magnesium circular saw features an industrial strength Makita-built 15 AMP motor that spins up to 5,800 RPM’s. The motor uses a variety of lightweight and well-balanced magnesium parts to keep the overall weight of the tool down while increasing durability and performance at the same time. This also allows for a large cutting capacity of 2-1/2” at 90° with a maximum bevel of up to 56°, plus positive stops at 45° and 22.5° for easy and quick back-and-forth changes.

Rather than having a different saw for each type of job, you can simply keep the 5007MG around to handle all your circular saw needs. The Makita 5007MG was engineered for a wide variety of jobs, such as: ripping particle board, plywood, OSB and high density structural panels, framing walls, roofs and floors with all types of dimensional and engineered lumber like PSL, LVL, headers, microlams, and I-Joists, plunge and bevel cutting, masonry and metal cutting and more. Makita has truly built an amazing all-around circular saw capable of handling virtually any job you can throw at it.

While many of the competitors offerings come with a generic or lower quality blade, the Makita 5007MG Magnesium comes with a 7-1/4” Makita Premium Ultra-Coated Framing Blade with Advance Tooth Design. The Advance Tooth Design has an “M” shape featuring a two-pointed tip and 10° bevel faces, greatly improving cutting performance while providing a more accurate and quicker cut. Carbine tips ensure the blade can stand up to the toughest cuts, like wood with nails embedded in it. In addition, the blade is Ultra-Coated to help reduce pitch and heat build up for smoother, faster cutting. Makita also adds strategically positioned vents to draw heat away from the blade and motor, furthering increasing performance and longevity. On-tool wrench storage makes blade changes fast and convenient.

Makita 5007MG Is Comfortable And Easy To Use

Makita 5007MG Magnesium Circular Saw

The use of high quality lightweight magnesium components keeps the overall tool weight to just 10.1 pounds, while maintaining maximum durability. While there are other circular saws with a similar weight, many of them do not come close to the strength and durability of the Makita 5007MG Magnesium, which has proven itself to be work-site tough. Certain details illustrate how much thought and planning went into the design, such as increased space between the blade case and rear handle to make it easier to use for people wearing work gloves. There is also extra space added between the housing and the blade to offer a better view of the measurement scale and blade while operating the saw. The rubberized ergonomic handles and one-handed levers minimize fatigue and maximize efficiency for the operator. The Makita MG5007 also has two LED lights and ducting to blog dust away from your workspace, making it much easier to see what you are doing.
