Your diet should consist of carbs, proteins, and the good kind of fats. The goal in getting great abs is reducing the amount of body fat you are carrying. In other words, you want to have a diet that consists of only 20% healthy fats, which should not include fruits and dairy products.

Your diet should also consist of 40% carbohydrates. These carbohydrates should be derived from complex carbs that are slow release, which might include broccoli, green beans, sweet potatoes, brown rice, grits, and oatmeal. For the 40% protein that you need to include in your diet you should be eating lean meats, tuna, turkey, and chicken.

The second area of focus should be on weight training. If you have a home gym, great, but if not you should be visiting your local gym, buy a membership, and start weight training at most five times weekly, and at least four times weekly. Three of those workouts should include some form of abdominal weight training. 45 minutes to 60 minutes is optimal for weight training.

The last area of focus is your cardio exercises. At least three times each week, you should be introducing cardio exercises into your workout out program. When looking in to how to get abs, you need to have a cardio exercise built in for at least twenty to thirty minutes. If you have a metabolism rate that is slower than others, you may need to do a cardio workout six to seven times weekly for as many as 45 minutes.

Learning how to get abs does not have to be a strenuous aspect in your life, however, it will take some hard work and dedication to get the abs you have always wanted.
