Tis the season for fresh cranberries. With the holidays rolling around grocery store coolers are being packed with those beautiful red berries.
Cranberries are most commonly known for fighting off urinary tract infections and are an excellent food for weight loss. Mix these precious berries with greens and you have a nutritious-packed fruit drink!
I happened upon a rather large bag in Sams this week and could not resist. Often I have bought bags of cranberries, not really sure what I’d do with them, but they are too pretty to pass up. I have tried a few recipes and discovered a new one this morning (new for me…that is).
Along with the large bag of fresh Cranberries, I bought a large bag of naval oranges and of course Spinach. I added them all together with some Apple Cider and a ripe banana to create a beautiful Holiday Vegan Green Smoothie.
I added the banana last which gave the smoothie a bit more body and sweetness.
The quantities are approximate, so feel free to add more or less to suit your blender pitcher or quantity or taste.
Cranberry-Orange Green Smoothie
- 1 1/2 cup Apple Cider
- 2 handfulls of Spinach
- 1 orange peeled and add a few small peelings or zest
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup cranberries
- 1 banana
Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend well.

Here is a quick 30 second video of the above recipe with a slight variation to the above recipe. All recipes are intended to be tweaked .
