If you have bad water than you know how awful it is trying to get a decent glass of water to drink. And if you’ve been buying bottled water then you know how much effort it is to go out and get the water, store it, keep it stocked in the fridge, etc. plus it doesn’t even taste that great. Not to mention that it costs easily ten times more to buy bottled water than to use your tap water.
One of the best ways to get clean drinking water at home when you don’t have access to water coolers is to distill the water you do have. Distillation removes nearly all contaminants by boiling off the water and leaving the contaminants behind. Another great use for distilled water is for other home appliances such as irons, humidifiers, coffee makers, etc. which will extend the life of the appliance too. So whether you are looking for a home water distiller for drinking, house appliances, aquariums, whatever, the Nutriteam countertop water distiller is the best water distiller we could find.
Nutriteam Countertop Water Distiller
The Nutriteam countertop water distiller (pictured in white) is one of the most popular home water distillers on the market. It has a rugged construction that uses a stainless steel lined distillation unit, dome and condensing coils. It comes with a 1 gallon glass collection bottle that mates perfectly with the unit so that you don’t get any stray water or steam plus, when the bottle is not in use, it can be placed into the distiller to both keep everything together while not taking up as much space. The home water distillation kit also has a six pack of charcoal filters to take out the bulk of the contaminants and a residue cleaner to handle any scale or other contaminants that dry onto the distillation unit.
Using the Nutriteam water distiller is incredibly simple. Simply take a gallon of tap or other water (rainwater perhaps?) using the collection vessel, pour it into the distillation unit and hit go – 5.5 hours later you’ll have a gallon of perfectly distilled water. And you don’t have to worry about the unit overheating as it has a thermal cutoff switch that automatically shuts the unit down once all of the water has evaporated.
Tips for Cleaning Countertop Water Distillers
While the Nutriteam water distiller automatically shuts off, the way is does so is by heating up once all of the water has evaporated. This causes the residue to harden and become stuck onto the unit making it harder to clean. If you use a timer to turn off the unit once 5.5 hours is up, the contaminants won’t harden and you’ll have just a little bit of water to dump out. And, as with most products, cleaning the unit out each time you use it will be much easier.
Also, while the residue cleaner is very effective at removing the residue, some people have found that just pouring vinegar into the unit and letting it sit for an hour or so can also help remove stuck on scale and other contaminants.
