Breville Electric Wok Review
This electric wok really sets the standard for allow other manufacturers to follow. Breville have spent a lot of time updating the design of this electric wok.
Prior to buying this electric wok I had always been disappointed with the results of my cooking efforts. Most of the time my food ended up stewing rather than cooking at high heat. However the Breville electric wok has changed my perceptions of cooking with an electric wok rather than on the stove.
To start with the Breville electric wok comes with a massive 14 heat settings which allow for optimum cooking of all foods from shrimp to beef, no more guessing whether your wok is at the right temperature. The heating element is worth talking about as well. It is uniquely designed in the shape of a butterfly which ensures that the heat is distributed evenly throughout the electric wok. We are not aware of any other wok with this design feature.
The ease of cleaning the Breville electric wok makes it a joy to use. We have had many electric woks before and have often not used them as cleaning them took a science degree and a lot of effort. Not with this electric wok though. It comes with a quick release base which allows everything to go in the dishwasher except the power cord and temperature probe.
There have been some complaints about the teflon coating of the electric wok being prone to scratches. I telephoned Breville to ask about this and was told that the majority of these scratches were caused by people not reading the instructions prior to using the electric wok. The instructions clearly state that you should use the silicon spatula provided or alternatively a wooden utensil. I have no complaints regarding the teflon coating and find it a breeze to clean. Just make sure to use the spatula provided to avoid damaging the teflon surface.
All in all I believe that this is the best electric wok on the market. For pure heat and cooking no other electric wok comes close. If you want to dazzle your family and friends with your asian cooking skills then the Breville electric wok is a must.
