Another important consideration in the purification technology used. There are a few on the market but two common ones are HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) and ULPA , which can remove almost any particulate 0.3 microns in size or larger.
ULPA, the more potent purifier, can remove virtually any airborne particle 0.3 microns in size or smaller.
Whilst in theory, ULPA filter media can remove more airborne particles than HEPA, that advantage is lost in room air purifiers. This is because the ticker UPLA filter media reduces air flow rates, which impacts the volume of air it can “treat.”
HEPA filter media on the other hand filters more air resulting in more air changes per hour in a given room.
